May brings lots of activity, cresting during the middle of the month. This means energy will build toward the end of the Taurean solar month as we are asked to metamorphose our security-based limitations.

Mercury retro in Taurus keeps insisting we will change. The Eclipses this month will make sure we do change. Neptune turning stationary retrograde will dissolve whatever no longer supports us. The repeated message is to replace outer security with inner security.

The Sun is in Taurus and the Evolutionary Astrology mantra is: I create self-reliance with every metamorphosis. Our energy naturally turns toward our resources and security issues with Taurus. It is the sign of self-reliance and providing for our essential needs.

For many souls, self-reliance is a dependence upon outer, physical things that surround us and give us comfort. When we become too attached, our “things”, including relationships, are “removed”, taken away in order that we may learn the next level of inner self-reliance.

As we are successful with this transference to inner security, we learn to let the material, outer world ebb and flow with natural endings and new beginnings. For most of us, it is a struggle to watch what we have created be “taken away”.

The Taurean desire for security and maintaining the status quo creates pressure to metamorphose and evolve. Intense resistance creates increasingly intense cataclysms. Evolution takes place one way or another. Where is the pressure building in your life? What is on the horizon to change? Are you resisting?

The desire to be secure is overwhelming for most souls. We are not even aware of how much security dictates our thoughts and actions. The same energy exists on a collective level as well.

Consensus state souls (70%) rely entirely upon outer security. They perceive all their sources of power to be outside of themselves. So the outside world is scary and more powerful. Consensus state leaders in a country like the United States use their vast military resources to maintain their sense of outer security by declaring war upon another country, conditioning their citizens to believe the national security is threatened.

Individuated state souls (20%) are learning to evolve from outer security to inner security, and find their own source of power from within themselves. There is still gravitation to outer security, yet these souls are becoming increasingly aware that the outer world only reflects the inner world.

Spiritual state souls (5%) really grasp that the Ultimate Source of power is found within. As they align themselves with deepening their relationship to that Source, their dependence upon the outer world lessens. Their essential needs are always fulfilled, as they understand they create their world. Insecurity is a metamorphosis to let go of whatever is holding them back from reunion with the Source.

May begins with a New Moon in Taurus on May 1 at 10/11 degrees. The annual time to inwardly ask what we really need to survive. Here is where we can take that next step in self-reliance. Initiate the quest this solar month to meet all of your needs yourself – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Venus, the ruler of Taurus, makes a waxing sextile to Neptune on May 2 at 13/14 degrees Aries-Aquarius. Venus can help with the inspiration to move forward. We are still in the beginnings of an annual solar cycle through the zodiac. What messages are you receiving on your journey to love yourself?

Sun makes a waxing square to Neptune at 13/14 degrees Taurus-Aquarius on May 3. There can be some type of crisis in knowing which direction is best for us right now. Go within and ask. Source, God/Goddess speaks from within, can you listen? Here is opportunity to create deeper levels of inner self-reliance, and deepen your direct connection to God/Goddess.

Then on May 7 Mercury retrograde makes an inferior conjunction to the Sun at 16/17 degrees Taurus. For some parts of the world Mercury actually eclipses the Sun. The inner self-reliance message is strong.

Most of the world, and a majority of U.S. citizens, will hear the message that the world is a safer place now. Is it really? Will terrorist threats actually decrease, or have they been given more justification for their beliefs and acts of terror upon the westernized world?

Taurean energy likes to see the world from its own limited perspective. Scorpio, the polarity of Taurus, brings the Plutonian upsets when that perspective ignores a larger reality. During Mercury’s retro back over the Sun, the door is open to grasp that larger world.

What larger realities are knocking on your door? If things are taken away during this month, your outlook is too narrow in some way. There is always a rebirth after a death, what do you choose to create?

This is a time to discern what really matters to you. What are your values in the various areas of your life feeling threatened and insecure? What really matters? Quest to take your next step of self-reliance.

Also on May 7 Venus makes a waxing trine to Pluto retro at 19/20 degrees Aries-Sagittarius. If we are really working on that next level of self-reliance, we can make some great progress in understanding, and meeting, our own needs and desires. Our relationships can naturally move to more self-sufficient intimacy.

It is also just as easy to resist change and once again project our co-dependencies on to our world. We can insist on knowing what is best for everyone, as our unconsciousness needs to be secure, repeating the past all over again.

On May 8 Mars makes the first of three oppositions to Jupiter over the next 7 months at 9/10 degrees Aquarius-Leo. Here is a message of what the Mars retrograde cycle in Pisces will be all about later this summer (July 29 – September 27). There is a theme of me versus you, us versus them when the Piscean message is that we are all in the same boat called planet Earth.

Mars will also make three waning trines to Saturn over the summer and fall. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will keep asking us to look at our roles in our communities, from our families and work environments to our participation as world citizens.

Jupiter and Saturn are bringing an uprising toward national security for all countries, us versus them. Can we hear the messages that the global security is at stake as we continue to draw lines in the sand?

Mars has a message here for Jupiter that there is a larger picture involved. Lesser-evolved souls will argue for the right to be superior to others. Where can you create equality in your world?

Mercury retro makes the second of three waxing squares to Neptune on May 12 at 13/14 degrees Taurus-Aquarius. What are the beliefs moving you forward? Where do you want to cling to the past in order to feel secure? Mercury retrograde in Taurus points toward letting go of left-brain control and accessing a deeper message.

Mercury retro then makes the second of three waxing squares to Mars on May 13 at 12/13 degrees Taurus-Aquarius. We must act on these evolving new perspectives of our world. Leaving the past behind is insecure in and of itself.

The past, no matter how dysfunctional it may be, represents security because it is known. The future, no matter how much we may desire it, represents insecurity because it is unknown. We must walk through our insecurities to create a deeper self-reliance down the road.

What evolving actions are in your face, and how much are you resisting your next step?

Venus makes a waning sextile to Saturn on May 14 at 29/30 degrees Aries-Gemini. Pay attention here as the messages can pop in as to how we can actually meet our own needs better. We can understand what must be released. Remember: inner instead of outer.

Mars makes a conjunction to Neptune on May 14 at 13/14 degrees Aquarius, the day before Neptune turns stationary retrograde. Mars always wants action and this is the annual time of the year that Neptune dissolves everything. What is crashing down in your world? Was it real?

There can be an impetus to really walk our talk, to quest for the deepest layers of truth when Mars crosses Neptune in Aquarius. Here is where those Taurean securities can be seen for the limitations they are. To hold the highest energies we are capable of realizing is a little hard to do most times. Make an intent and effort.

There is a rebirthing of our desires as Mars crosses over Neptune. Do your emerging desires separate you from the Source, or return you to the Source?

Neptune turns retrograde on May 15 at 13/14 degrees Aquarius. The annual time to face the limitations in our beliefs and the illusions we call reality. This is the initiation of a five-month cycle to release whatever prevents us from re-merging with God/Goddess.

For most souls, Neptune turning stationary retrograde brings a letdown. We get so caught up in the worlds we create – or thought we were creating. If we are trying to recreate the past in order to be secure, this is the month of disappointment. Neptune will not let the past re-manifest no matter how hard we try. Been there, done that.

Go within when confusion, disappointment and upset happen. What is the inner message? One of them is to merge with those larger forces of power. Re-merging with the Source is the hardest thing we will do, as it feels like losing our self, our ego. The opposite is what happens, however, to go the next step toward God/Goddess, and release our securities, is really scary sometimes.

The same day, May 15, is a Lunar Eclipse as well at 24/25 degrees Taurus-Scorpio. Here is the height of realizing our limitations this month. Our emotions lead the way and show us exactly where things are at in our lives. This is the annual time to recognize the areas of our lives that need metamorphosis, death and rebirth.

There can easily be relationship awareness and/or eruptions at this time. Watch the tendency to make your partners defacto gods and goddesses. Co-dependencies are revealed.

Bottom line is that our emotions will be erupting outward as they show us the limits of our world, and where we want to be in control. The middle of May can be a wonderful time to really love ourselves. Where are you being asked to do so in your life?

Honor your emotions and the messages they bring this month. Listen to what your soul is revealing to you about yourself, and your ability to love yourself and others.

The middle of May brings some of the most intense energy of the year. We all want to be secure and so resistance to change can become quite strong. The energy to evolve and grow is stronger.

The next day, May 16, Venus enters Taurus, the sign it rules, for a four-week journey. All these aspects combine to create one big lesson on loving ourselves and taking care of our own needs. Disappointments, emotional upsets, everything reveals where we are dependent upon our outer world.

Clean out your closets, inner and outer. Cut to the essence of what is really necessary in your world and let go of the rest. You will have more energy and resources available to move forward with what is really worthwhile.

Venus then makes a waxing sextile to Uranus on May 18 at 2/3 degrees Taurus-Pisces. Emotional insights carry over from the Lunar Eclipse. If love is not in your world as you desire, then choice is there to find the ways to love yourself better.

Mercury retro makes the second of three waning squares to Jupiter on May 19 at 11/12 degrees Taurus-Leo just before Mercury turns stationary direct on the next day. There will be repeated messages and understandings at what we are ready to release. We are realizing that certain situations and relationships that have defined us no longer matter.

Are we more concerned with appearances or what is real?

Mercury turns stationary direct on May 20 at 11/12 degrees Taurus. We are also at the end of the Taurean solar month. The limitations in our world have been exposed to us and we understand what we need to let go of and release. Find the courage to do so. The insight is also there on how to move forward with what and whom really count. We are ready to take that next step in meeting our own needs.

If things and/or relationships are being removed, they are not in the best interests of meeting your own needs. If you have been working on inner self-reliance, you may find that your resources are manifesting a new world for you.

What is the next step in your world of work?

Do your resources support you? Is money and prosperity a natural part of spirituality, or the root of all evil? What are your values about your resources? Mercury is bringing answers to these questions at this time.

The Sun enters Gemini on May 20 and the Evolutionary Astrology mantra is: I gather information with intuitive searching. A shift will start to happen now as we open up and move forward again from the review of our needs and resources. This is the solar month to look at everything from as many viewpoints as possible and intuit which one is best for us.

Flexibility with our resources and relationships will come into focus as the Sun and inner planets help Saturn, the planet of reality, finish up its two-year plus journey through Gemini. The more we utilized the energy of Taurus to deepen our self-reliance, the easier the journey of flexibility through Gemini will be.

Mercury then makes the third and final waning square to Jupiter at 11/12 degrees Taurus-Leo again on May 23. One more opportunity to understand what we need to let go of. Jupiter in Leo wants every resource and material comfort it can find. Mercury in Taurus is making sure we only keep what is essential.

What really is of value to you?

The Sun makes a waxing square to Uranus on May 24 at 2/3 degrees Gemini-Pisces. Here is the energy to look at our emotional world differently. Uranus is just starting its seven-year passage through Pisces, and uncovering 2,000 years of patriarchal conditioning.

You have the chance to take every area you see yourself as a victim and look at it from another point of view. What unconscious behaviors created this appearance of victimization?

Mars makes a waxing sextile to Pluto retro on May 24/25 at 19/20 degrees Aquarius-Sagittarius. New desires are coming forth from our soul. Utilize the creative energy of fire and air signs to put those new desires into action.

A new level of self-reliance is emerging this month, and our desires can now reflect this evolvement. When our inner self-worth is strong, we can let go of boundaries and stretch ourselves. Where is your next leap of growth?

Are your evolving desires separating you or returning you to the Source?

Venus makes a waning square to Jupiter at 11/12 degrees on May 26. The next few days bring some final understandings of what is meaningful and valuable in our lives. There could be more resources to release. A deeper relationship with our selves is upon us. We could be facing our limitations one more time. Any outer expansions must be based upon an inner knowing.

Mercury makes a conjunction to Venus the same day at 12/13 degrees Taurus. How can you love yourself better? What new values keep coming through? What is really important for you to be OK in your world? Can you minimize your projections on to others?

Venus then makes a waxing square to Neptune retro on May 27 at 13/14 degrees Taurus-Aquarius. Can you make the effort to love others in both day-to-day reality and on the highest levels you can see within their souls? Venus gets to take esoteric love and make it real here. Only love is real, can you see it?

And Mercury follows Venus making a waxing square to Neptune retrograde on May 27 as well at 13/14 degrees Taurus-Aquarius. There is a need to step forward with Mercury and Venus into new ways of taking care of ourselves. We are consumed with our resources yet again – our home, job, relationships, money – whatever constitutes our security.

It has been a long month and the ability to see the limitations we need to let go of are clear by now. And Neptune will be dissolving whatever doesn’t work for us anymore just in case we are not clear about everything.

Your relationships to your job/career, to money and to others have been revealed. What isn’t best for you isn’t working anymore. So, how can you change it?

Believe in yourself. Let go and make a leap of faith in the direction that feels right.

Finally we have a Solar Eclipse on May 30/31 at 9/10 degrees Gemini. An annual time to initiate new directions and attitudes. The ah ha’s can come here. Can you let go and go with the flow? Can you look at everything differently?

Utilize this New Moon eclipse energy to make those new beginnings you have been realizing and yet are afraid to step in to. Who do you need to be sharing things with and talking to? Speak up and share your fears. Your resistance to change is fading.

Remember life is choices and experiences, choices and experiences. New choices are upon you. New experiences are coming. Let the past go.
