Monthly Forecast - October 2002

Four planets change geocentric direction in October, bringing many things up for reevaluation and conclusion. Change is in the air. Mercury (communications) and Neptune (greater spirituality) go direct so answers are showing up in those areas. Venus (self-reliance) and Saturn (self-responsibility) go retrograde within 24 hours of each other, bringing lots of questions about the relationships in our lives.

Mercury makes several aspects this month. Utilize the energy to really get to the bottom of your relationship issues as Venus starts its retro cycle. Communications are all around us with Sun in Libra as well. If you can really listen during the month of October, much can be revealed via the mirror (others). Whatever you wish to project is what you are yet afraid to own…

Jupiter makes the first of three waning trines to Pluto over the next year in Leo-Sag. Those harmonious trines carry the current energy forward, positive or negative. It takes awareness to realize, change with them. Jupiter in Leo waning trine Pluto in Sagittarius can bring the rewards in society and the con artist stealing the show.

Where is your social life at these days? Are you finding yourself receiving new leadership positions in your community? Did someone else get the promotion? This Jupiter-Pluto aspect will require us to really discern what is going on when we experience disappointments.

The Sun is in Libra and the Evolutionary Astrology mantra is: I balance a diversity of relationships with my own initiative. We are now in that half of the zodiacal year when “others” are the lessons. Libra energy can sometimes release so much focus on the people in our lives that we forget to include ourselves as well.

Sun in Libra is always questing for that balance of self and others, and it changes continually. We learn this through an equality of giving and receiving. Are you a giver or a receiver? Where are you being asked to go to the next level in your relationship-balancing act?

The Sun makes a waning trine to Neptune retrograde on October 1 at 8/9 degrees Libra-Aquarius. Inner and outer messages of how we fit into the larger picture. We can realize great clarity on spiritual levels. We can also remain in our illusions of limited beliefs. Neptune turns direct on October 20, so quest for your highest level of truth to be revealed this month.

Mercury retrogrades back into Virgo on October 2. Here we will find the ability to analyze and digest all the relationship interactions during Mercury retro in Libra. Ask for intuition to be a part of the picture, as we can get caught up in too many details and miss the message.

Mercury retro makes the second of three waxing squares to Saturn on October 3 at 29/30 degrees Virgo-Gemini. How is your reality shifting? Let go of attachment to having your life proceed a certain way. Flexibility is the key here as we get to realize new ways of looking at our relationships and work and how we build our lives around them.

Sun makes a waxing sextile to Jupiter on October 6 at 13 degrees Libra-Leo. Open up to your dreams emerging. Listen to what your intuition is telling you. All through this Libra solar month we will receive information from others that teaches us more about our self. Pay attention to the answers that get triggered.

The New Moon of Libra is October 6 at 13/14 degrees. Our annual time to rebirth our relationships on all levels. With Mercury turning direct later in the day, we can receive the messages on how we want to move forward in our relating patterns to others.

As usual, this may mean a new beginning, a relationship ending and/or the whole scenario of rebirthing our current relationships. Just remember to breathe, listen and ask questions before jumping to conclusions.

Mercury turns direct on October 6 at 28/29 degrees Virgo, a sign it rules. Watch the nitpicking here. Now is the time for mental answers and conversation about moving forward. If you find yourself in arguments, somehow you are remaining stuck. Are you projecting on to others the changes you want them to make? Can you be the example?

Virgo sees the cup half empty or half full, where are you? The theme again is evolving our relationships and learning to communicate more clearly. If equality of giving and receiving is not reality, then it may be time to bring things to a closure.

The Sun makes a waning sextile to Pluto at 15/16 degrees Libra-Sagittarius on October 8. Here is an understanding of old relating securities that no longer work for us. We want things to be a certain way in order to feel secure, and it just doesn’t work that way anymore. Messages of what needs to change are there, can you release old ways and move forward? Allow your soul to realize new relating desires coming in.

Mercury then makes the third and final waxing square to Saturn on October 9 at 29/30 degrees Virgo-Gemini. The details of how to create a new reality with the other people in your life are made known. We can degenerate into blaming others for what has went wrong, or we can accept responsibility for our own relationship situations. We can also understand what needs to change in order to move forward.

Saturn in Gemini has been repeatedly asking us to change the structure of our lives. Here are some more details in how to do so as Mercury turns direct and Saturn turns retro in Gemini for the last time in two more days.

Venus turns stationary retrograde on October 10 at 15/16 degrees Scorpio. Relationship co-dependencies are ready to be metamorphosed. This is one of the rarer planetary retro cycles – Venus only reverses geocentric direction every 1-1/2 years for six weeks.

Venus rules Taurus, the opposite sign of Scorpio. Venus teaches us self-reliance, in every single aspect of our lives, not just love. Scorpio teaches us all about death and rebirth, or, where we have limitations and how to metamorphose those limitations into greater self-empowerment.

Venus in Scorpio shows us our limitations, which we can turn into co-dependencies to whatever/whomever we perceive to be more powerful than we are. Co-dependency can exist with a job, house, etc, as well as a relationship of any type. When Venus retrogrades in Scorpio, all of our limitations and co-dependencies are brought up to the surface to be evolved, sometimes in great Plutonian ways.

When we become too attached to something/someone and stop growing, the natural laws of evolution can remove whatever we are attached to in order to help us grow. It is known as the famous rug ripped out from under our feet.

Venus retro in Scorpio is about taking the next step in self-reliance. So here we are after the Mercury retro cycle in Libra bringing up the communication issues in our relationships. Now we must walk our talk. We will get another chance to review those conversations and see what we want to renegotiate.

What is happening for you in your relationships, all of them? Where are you feeling frustrated? Those are your current limitations. How can you talk it out and express what you are feeling? What can you do to change the situations around you? Not by changing others, instead, by changing yourself. You have the next six weeks to work on it.

Later on October 10, Mercury passes back into Libra for three weeks. Now we are moving forward in our communications. Utilize the energy with Venus turning retro to listen, speak, listen, and speak. We are feeling the intensity of our emotions and relationships right now. Talk about it. Grow with it, do not stuff it.

Then Saturn turns retrograde on October 11 at 29/30 degrees Gemini. Wherever we are not facing reality is exposed now. Saturn is our expression of individuated consciousness and our sense of security around us. It is the boundary of what we can take in our lives.

Saturn likes to feel stable and in control. It is not comfortable in “go with the flow” Gemini. For the last two plus years Saturn has had to learn inner security, or a foundation in movement itself. There are a lot of social changes upon the planet right now and Saturn wants to be in charge. No way says the outer planets.

So here we are starting the last Saturn retrograde cycle in Gemini and asking one more time, what do we need to change in our realities? And, here again is a message about learning communications lessons, Gemini. Do you walk your talk?

Saturn retrograde opens the door to the unconsciousness. Sometimes we face disappointments and depression when Saturn turns retro. This is a message we are not facing reality. So at the beginning of this stationary retrograde the door is opening for Saturn to hear the messages from the unconsciousness, are you listening?

What deep changes can you make in the structure of your life? Can you shift and look at things from another’s point of view? What reality changes are your relationships facing? Together Venus and Saturn are asking us to take the next step in self-reliance and face responsibility for our lives and relationships in every way. May you be successful.

On October 13 Jupiter makes a waxing semi-square to Saturn retro at 14/15 degrees Leo – 29/30 degrees Gemini. This is a half-square 45 degree aspect and just as intense as the square aspect. Here is where we can break free from past limitations of our beliefs and how it creates our reality.

It can bring a need to turn inward and reflect. The quest at this time is to take our relationship communications into consideration as we get the courage to move forward in the directions that are best for our self and others.

Collectively, we may find our leaders telling us they know what is best for us. Here is a chance to break free from the conditionings of war and ask if there is another way. The con-census state reality only understands a need to convince others of their point of view. It takes courage to ask if war is the best answer.

The last Jupiter-Saturn conjunction originating this cycle was in May 2000 at 22/23 degrees Taurus. This entire planetary-pair cycle contains lessons about survival, and taking care of our own needs. In the US we have interpreted this as forcing everyone to do it our way. We are interested in our own survival as we want it, regardless of what others believe, think and feel. What can you do to help all of us survive?

Mars follows on October 13 with a waxing square to Saturn retro at 29/30 degrees Virgo-Gemini. Tension is building in the middle of the month. It has been building all summer, and we are noticing another level of increase now. What would it be like if we had leaders in our country that put as much effort into education and our own economy’s needs as they do war? Imagine it, give energy to it.

Personally ask how you can move forward into discerning the new realities that are best for you. When we strive to walk our talk and follow natural laws, the realities of the world do not have to be our realities. We create our own reality. We can break free from patriarchal conditioning and be a part of a new, different reality. Here is your chance, make the effort, make the difference.

All this planetary energy in the last few degrees of mutable signs (Virgo, Gemini) means things could go either way. Again, choose to use your energy towards what you would like to see happen.

Mars then enters Libra on October 15 for a seven-week passage. There is a chance we could compromise for peace. Mars is in the opposite sign of its Aries’ rulership. Mars can consider others in it actions now. Give peace a chance may be heard more and more.

Mars has now entered the relationship game during its journey through Libra. We can make an effort towards equality in our relating to others. The inequalities are in our face.

Venus and Mars are transiting through opposite signs of their rulerships. It is like a Full Moon phase where answers are revealed. Face your relationship changes. What has not worked up to this point and how can you do things differently?

What is working with family, friends and lovers? How can you improve upon it? Who do you keep in your life and who is it necessary to say good-bye to? We forget that endings are as natural as beginnings. This Venus retro in Scorpio will bring closures to the relationships that are not evolving. Where can you create a healthy ending into greater self-reliance?

Venus retro then makes its second of three waxing squares to Jupiter on October 17 at 14/15 degrees Scorpio-Leo. If we are working upon our next level of self-reliance we can understand how to move forward here. As we do what is best for ourselves it will be what is best for all concerned.

Your insecurities can be attempting to get others to agree with your way of looking at things. Watch the feedback. Who is saying, “me first”?

Mercury then makes it third and final waning trine to Neptune retro at 8/9 degrees Libra-Aquarius on October 18. This is a time for clarity, especially if we have been asking for our relationship truths to be revealed. Others can feel safe enough to open up and finally talk to us. We can do the same.

Quest for truth. Do not settle for being silent and hoping things will turn out all right. Speak your piece and then listen for the mirror to reflect back. Be truth and truth will come back to you.

The Sun makes a waning trine to Uranus retro at 25/26 degrees Libra-Aquarius on October 18. Here again we can receive messages concerning what is best for all. Insights can come on our part to play in the larger community. What can you do to be a part of unity in diversity in all your circles?

Next Neptune turns stationary direct on October 20 at 8/9 degrees Aquarius. Messages of truth can be revealed and understood at this time. Neptune represents God/Goddess, or the collective consciousness/unconsciousness. Neptune is so deep it is hard to grasp for many.

When Neptune goes direct we get a glimpse of how the Divine works in our lives to align us with natural laws. Ask that your connection to the Source be made more conscious at this time.

If you are finding yourself depressed and/or disillusioned here, then you have really been resisting your next spiritual step of growth. Nothing else will do. People/things in your life will continue to dissolve if you are not willing to be in your truth.

Can you surrender to your next level of merging with the Source? It is a lot easier said than done. If you have been sincerely questing to understand what is the meaning of everything then another level of truth will be revealed at this time. We are a beam of light, the example of God/Goddess incarnate. Indeed, reunion with the Source is what it is all about.

The Full Moon of Aries follows on October 21 at 27/28 degrees Libra-Aries – our annual time to realize equality with others. Search for the balance of yourself with the people in your life. Emotional frustrations at this time reveal the inequalities that exist somewhere in your relationships.

A balance of self is neither extreme of selfishness or selflessness. It is being able to ebb and flow with your experiences to achieve a level of equal interacting. Souls become conditioned to extremes of selfishness and selflessness and then find it hard to even realize their behaviors are imbalanced.

All through this fall we will decide whom to relate to and whom to walk away from in order to create that balance of giving and receiving. Listen to the Full Moon messages you receive.

Then the Sun makes a waxing trine to Saturn retro on October 22 at 28/29 degrees Libra-Gemini. We can find the courage to move forward in our lives, or ignore the messages and hope our problems will disappear. What steps have you been trying to make with friends, in love and at work? Go for it, take a deep breath and speak up, move forward.

We can make some nice strides forward in our relating patterns if we make the effort.

Mercury then makes the third and final waxing sextile to Jupiter at 15/16 degrees Libra-Leo on October 22. Energy is easier and flowing over the next few days. Make that extra effort to communicate and watch people understand what you are saying this time around.

Mercury also makes a waning sextile to Pluto on October 23 at 15/16 degrees Libra-Sag. So many ah ha’s can come through in communications. We can understand what isn’t working, and insight on what will work is there. Search for answers. Release old ways of looking at your relationships and open up to new ones. Someone is always there to give you an idea or two or three.

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 and the Evolutionary Astrology mantra is: I metamorphose myself with evolving self-reliance. The weighing of pros and cons with Libra is over. It is decision time. It is time to change. This is the annual time to face our limitations and evolve, to take the next step in growth, to risk stepping into the unknown.

There is an emphasis on relationships and relating patterns this month. Every relationship we have - work, love, play – will undergo change, big and small. Where are you right now? Are you sticking your heels in with the changes in front of you? The evolving forces are stronger than you are. It would be easier to surrender and grow.

The highest Scorpio energy is reunion with the Source, merging on deep, soul levels. Can you bring that into all your relationships? Can you see the spark of Divine in another and help it grow? Can you merge with the Divine yourself? Can you see a higher purpose in your work, whatever it is?

This is the solar month to face your insecurities and find the courage and will power to move beyond them. Venus retro in Scorpio is bringing in all kinds of messages in how this can happen. May you be successful.

On October 27 Jupiter makes the first of three waning trines to Pluto over the next year at 15/16 degrees Leo-Sagittarius. The waning trine aspect is a reward aspect. Somehow there is a merging with the larger whole, society. As with all waning trine aspects, there is much potential for good or bad with Jupiter waning trine Pluto.

Our personal beliefs (Jupiter) are merging with the desires of our soul (Pluto). The separating and returning desires in each of us are creating our personal belief systems. Here we can feel justified in showing others how our beliefs are creating the things in our lives, which they do. However, a deeper truth is that our desires create a belief structure to support that which we desire.

Here we can see world leaders working to convince others that they have the best solution for all concerned. In our country it is a President determined to make war and convince us it will create greater peace. We have a President with a desire to dominate, and he will find someone to make war with. It just happens to also be the enemy of his father. Is there also a desire for revenge being justified by a belief in taking out the “axis of evil?”

Feel peace, be peace.

As souls evolve, the desires to merge with the Source create belief systems that support a realization that we are all one, and an elimination of separating desires such as war. Jupiter in Leo waning trine Pluto in Sag can bring a realization of the connection to the ultimate collective soul, God/Goddess, and the role we each can play in merging into one with all that is.

With a waning trine we can see the rewards of our desires on a social level. We can be leaders with a different choice than fear and hatred of each other. May you be successful in whatever role you play.

This Jupiter-Pluto cycle started with a conjunction in December 1994 at 28/29 degrees Scorpio – intent to metamorphose our beliefs to the depths of our soul. All the insecurities of our personal belief systems were brought to the surface to be understood and re-birthed. We realized just how emotionally attached we are to our beliefs.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Scorpio teaches us that there are always larger forces of power out there, “good and bad”, returning to and separating from the Source.

Lesser-evolved souls are sensing the separating forces of power with Jupiter waning trine Pluto and feeling quite fearful. They want control through force, as though hating and destroying the “enemy” will solve the problems.

Evolving souls utilize the same aspect to realize a growing connection to returning energies and the Ultimate Source, and they can merge on deeper levels yet, using the power of those returning energies to heal and love.

An author named David Hawkins in the book Power versus Force said: “A positive thought is more powerful than a negative one, for how else would anyone be left to tell the story.”

The next day on October 28, Mars makes a waning trine to Neptune at 8/9 degrees Libra-Aquarius. Here the waning trine brings an ability to walk a higher truth, or subtlety manipulating everyone into an illusion. We may find that the idea of war brings a lot more costs then just financial; however, US leaders attempt to blindly lead us forward.

Then Mercury makes a waning trine to Uranus on October 28 at 24/25 degrees Libra-Aquarius. Enlightenment is possible. So are the lies. Strive to be as honest as possible in your relationships. Communications can be real and healing if we make the effort. The unconscious is revealed.

Three inner planets make waning trines to three outer planets. You can find yourself on top of the world here. You may find yourself facing deep illusions and attempting to carry on. You will see the fruits of your labors the end of the month.

Venus retro makes the second of three waning squares to Neptune on October 30 at 8/9 degrees Scorpio-Aquarius. Let go of what pushes your buttons and search, listen, for the truth. How can you surrender to a larger realization of love? Your disappointments in love are showing you your insecurities. Utilize Venus retrograde in Scorpio to find that deeper level of self-reliance.

Mercury makes a waxing trine to Saturn retro at 28/29 degrees Libra-Gemini on October 30. This is a good time for communications. Make an effort to speak the truth and lay a solid foundation in your relationship understandings.

Finally, Venus retro makes a conjunction to the Sun at the apex of its retrograde cycle on October 31 at 7/8 degrees Scorpio. Here are the answers to our self-reliance questions. Listen to the messages coming towards you in your relationships. Now is the time to really face those insecurities and move forward. How completely can you love yourself?

Deep conversations are possible here as well. Can you exercise the outer part of Venus and really listen to what others have to say? Can you listen to what is coming up within you?

If you find yourself alone again and in a relationship ending, ask for your next step in loving yourself better. If you find yourself in the beginnings of a new relationship, how can you merge on the deepest levels and still be responsible for yourself? If you are in the midst of a relationship, what is the next step of commitment within a deeper self-reliance? We are each responsible for our own needs regardless of our relationship scenarios.
