The solar month of Libra (September 23 – October 23) initiates the Sun’s passage through the second half of the zodiac every year. It is also the Fall Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere – day and night are equal while the Sun “orbits” the equator from our earth-centered perspective. The next three months finds the Sun rising a few minutes later and setting a few minutes earlier each day until it climbs northward again toward the equator at the Winter Solstice.
Many times the archetype of Libra will be emphasized when there is a lack of balance, or a lack of giving and receiving on an equal basis. Libra has lessons of “yes” or “no” as appropriate for each situation. Venus is the ruler of Libra and together they represent relationships outside of self. Many times our outer relating will be based upon how well we have learned an inner relationship with our selves – Venus’ rulership of Taurus and self-reliance. Our outer world reflects our inner world whether we are conscious of it or not.
This is why the great lesson of feeling unhappy with any particular relationship always brings the lesson back to our selves. When we learn how to create healthy, inner relating patterns, then we can attract healthy mates and friends, etc. We know when to say yes and when to say no in any and all situations. Libra learns to take care of itself first through its polarity point of Aries.
This can be a tough lesson for Libra. While Aries has no trouble starting from self and sometimes cannot get beyond its own nose, Libra can be extremely aware of everyone else’s thoughts and feelings to the detriment of its own health. Hence, the need for balance, and in Libra’s case it must err on the side of self when it is paralyzed.
Mercury is busy this retrograde cycle with three aspects each to Pluto, Mars and Saturn and two aspects to Venus. The emphasis will be on intimacy and familial relations and metamorphosing old, old patterns. Typical with retrograde cycles, we get three chances to change how we look at any situation and act upon it. Find your Libran patience to talk it out, again and again, until new harmony is achieved for everyone involved. Or, when you need to say enough and hold your healthy boundary as necessary. The choices will be unique to each of us.
September 24 - Mercury makes the first of three waning sextiles to Pluto on September 24 at 26/27 degrees Libra-Sagittarius. The next two waning sextiles are October 26 and November 8 in Libra-Sag as well. Mercury-Pluto can create circular thinking dependent upon whatever makes us feel secure. These waning sextiles ask us to look at the larger picture and consider another viewpoint.
This first waning sextile can expose the communication patterns and where we are limited in our thinking. Libra and Sag are fairly open-minded towards change so make an effort. Speak your truth and then listen to another’s version of it. Is there common ground? Can both sides make adjustments? The more you stubbornly cling to your viewpoint as the only “right” one, the more Mercury’s retro cycle can zing you. It is all about understanding a broader point of view.
We are in the midst of the final months of Pluto in Sag (for the next 250 years) so more lies are exposed to reach deeper levels of truth and honesty. This theme will pick up energy in relationships over the next few months. Communications are a big deal. So is common ground in value systems. How is this operating for you?
September 26 - Mercury makes the first of three waxing trines to Mars on September 26 at 29 degrees Libra-Gemini. The next two waxing trines are October 17 and November 19, both in Scorpio-Cancer. This is the only waxing trine in air signs – mental energy. Ready to talk it out or ready to run? It will be important to strive for honesty the beginning of the solar month. Mercury is “setting the stage” for so many relationship scenarios. Choose your words carefully.
It is actually a good time for talking through your issues. The Venus side of Libra relates to the psychology of hearing. Mercury in Libra can be a great listener. Mars in Gemini must watch talking out of both sides of our mouths, or stating one thing while we do the opposite. Walk your talk.
Everyone has desires in some stage of manifestation. Mars is finishing up its passage through Gemini and it will return here from December 31 to March 3, 2008 during part of its retrograde cycle. Again, our actions this fall will circle back around after the first of the year to be addressed again in some way. The value of Gemini is its ability to be flexible and adapt. Its weak link is being two-faced.
A common theme here could be love triangles when one party is monogamous while the other is not, and dishonest about it. The psychological detective abilities of Scorpio may not be pretty when truth is exposed this fall. The same could be said for business relationships or work agreements or friendships. Libra wants what is fair. This aspect can easily create it, or set the stage for showdowns.
September 26 - The Full Moon of Aries is September 26 at 3/4 degrees Libra-Aries. This is the annual emotional checkup to honor our own needs in all our relationships. While the Sun wants to socialize and interact in a variety of situations, we must balance this with time for our selves, Moon in Aries. This Full Moon will expose any struggles in this area.
For some, this will mean throwing off selfishness as we consider the needs of the people in our lives. For others, it means finding a new level of self-ness, and realizing that we only truly make others happy to the degree we make ourselves happy. The balance will be different for each person.
Those on the selfish end of the spectrum need to strive for feedback of “thank you” as family, friends and lovers are surprised by their gifts of themselves. Those on the selfless end need to realize that comments of “selfishness” are actually compliments and signposts of moving toward the center in the give/take arena. Where are you in the lessons of giving and receiving on an equal basis? Anger could be a revealing clue, from within or coming at you.
September 27 - Mercury enters Scorpio on September 27 for the next month until it retrogrades back into Libra on October 23. Mercury in Libra is weighing all the facts, and Mercury in Scorpio cuts to the bottom line. Just know that Scorpio is a water sign – emotions – and so the closer we are to a situation the more our emotions may color the “facts.”
Mercury in Scorpio is the psychological detective deluxe, operating on gut instinct. We can recognize something intuitively, emotionally, first and then find the facts that support what we already sense. It is why Scorpio is sometimes shied away from – people feel exposed by its laser-like beams.
As Mercury enters Scorpio the gloves come off, no more Libra niceness. Communications become more and more direct. This is a good thing. If you are playing word games, expect tempers to rise. People can sense when something isn’t quite right, even when they do not yet know what is wrong. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio will reveal it.
Search through your own insecurities and reach for a deeper level of self-reliance. Your mind will want to wrap around these themes. Be careful of getting stuck. Scorpio is meant to confront limitations and evolve. Power struggles are meant to teach us a deeper level of self-empowerment. Make the mental effort when your emotions drive you bonkers. Why? How can you reach for a deeper level of loving your self?
September 28 - Mars enters Cancer on September 28 for the next three months until its retrograde cycle takes it back into Gemini on December 31. Mars will then reenter Cancer from March 4 to May 9, 2008. Mars in Cancer for a total of five months over the next eight months will emphasize opportunities for growth in any familial situation. It will find our desire nature coming from insecurity or emotional self-reliance and, most likely, the struggle between these two ends of the spectrum.
Cancer teaches us to take care of our own emotional needs. Depending upon our family of origin this may or may not have been taught, leaving us to learn it later as adults if necessary. Our westernized societies support victimization and it is easy to blame our lack in life upon our family. Many times there is a deeper lesson involved to teach us self-love and from this, self-determination. NO one will love us better than our selves – deep inner love, not outward substitutes.
Mars naturally rules Aries and Cancer is 90 degrees away, which is the aspect of a first quarter square in Evolutionary Astrology. It is known as a crisis in action in some way. It naturally relates back to our first crisis upon birth – the anxiety of separation from the womb and mother. We want to burst out and yet we want to be secure. Back and forth we go.
This passage of Mars through Cancer, with part of its retrograde cycle there, will trigger this emotional process within us. Mars retrograde is a time to review our desire nature. Mars relates to our instinct to become, our conscious desires. Mars is retrograde November 15 to January 30, 2008, from 12/13 degrees Cancer to 24 degrees Gemini. Its entire shadow period – three passages over the Gemini-Cancer degrees just mentioned – lasts from September 16 to April 4, 2008.
The next three months will bring plenty of opportunity to love our selves better, and with the Sun through the intimate relationship signs we may become very aware of how we substitute our love partners for any love that was missing in our family of origin. Hence, when Mars retrogrades in Cancer we may be thrown back inward to learn this lesson yet again, perhaps with recycled family issues and patterns. Pay attention to the themes arising over the next few months.
One of the biggest lessons with this coming Mars retro in Cancer is taking complete responsibility for our lives. Our outer success will relate back to our degree of inner emotional self-reliance. Our emotional maturity creates social maturity in the world. Emotional immaturity creates blame games, excuses and public social programs. You may be repeating these lessons as an adult, peeling those layers off the onion, and you may be a parent now teaching your own children. Mars in Cancer is a time to review and evolve our parenting lessons and actions.
Desires are always emotionally based and Mars in Cancer will help us figure out those evolving desires we want the most. All souls desire to be secure, especially emotional security, so we can tend to repeat certain needs and desires in order to remain safe and secure. Sometimes our desire nature runs its natural course and it is time to move on, evolve our desires. These themes will also be strong during this next Mars retrograde cycle. What desires no longer serve our highest and best growth? Can you move through the insecurities that come with new territory? How can you take self-love to the next level?
September 30/October 1 - Mercury makes the first of three waxing sextiles to Saturn on September 30/October 1 at 3/4 degrees Scorpio-Virgo. The next two waxing sextiles are October 19 and November 16 in Scorpio-Virgo as well. This Mercury aspect finds us striving to improve our roles in relationship responsibilities. This area can take a lot of communication, possibly with complaints of too much responsibility, feeling like a victim or those famous power struggles again.
Mercury is learning new communication skills and we need to be careful about only seeing what is wrong with the picture. Flip it around and look for how to make things better. Then find those words that start with respect and honor. Figure out a way to acknowledge what someone else is doing from their perspective. Ask for permission to share feedback. If someone else is not willing to listen then you have choice to go forward with the current arrangements or change your mind about the entire agreement.
We will discuss this theme of relationship responsibilities three times over the dates above. Talk it out as best as possible. Know that any emotional triggers are your own emotional lessons. Take your power back over meeting your own emotional needs and the upsets will lessen. This is easier said than done yet Mercury will make sure we keep trying. You do have the power to create new roles for your self in your world. May you be successful.
October 3 - Venus makes the third and final waning trine to Pluto on October 3 at 26/27 degrees Leo-Sagittarius. The first two waning trines were July 8 and August 15 in Leo-Sagittarius also. Venus is almost complete with its own retrograde cycle from this summer (July 27 – September 8, 3 degrees Virgo to 16/17 degrees Leo). It leaves its shadow, 3 degrees Virgo, on October 11.
This aspect is a time for relationship rewards. If we do not find this in our lives, then once again self-reliance becomes the lesson. Pluto represents the soul and its desires on deep unconscious levels. Venus relates to values, which dictate our needs and desires as well. Venus and Pluto co-create relationship needs within our soul. Are we looking for someone to save us, or love us enough to feel complete? We could experience the disappointment, or shocks, of being left alone, again.
When we learn to love our selves, then we learn to create healthy relationship boundaries. We will not give our power away in order to be loved. We do not settle for manipulations in order to take someone else’s power away from them. These can be tough relationship lessons. At this final Venus-Pluto waning trine we can be facing major truths, perhaps uncomfortable realizations about our self. As Venus finishes up this long passage through Leo, go for self-love. Then you will find it reflected in your partner.
With Sun in Libra during this last Venus-Pluto trine, we could find love deepening in some way. We may realize the divine within our partner without making them a defacto god/goddess. We may be reaching new levels of giving and receiving in love, being truly loved for who we are and giving the same back to our partner as they need to be loved. Deep self-reliance allows for freedom, to stay or leave, wherever each of us are upon our journey.
October 7/8 - Venus enters Virgo on October 7/8 for the next month until it moves on into Libra on November 8. Venus barely touched into Virgo yet it spent almost four weeks there at the first three degrees during the second half of July through the first half of August. What is happening as you revisit this zodiacal spot?
In a few days Venus will make the third and final passage over Saturn in Virgo. The first two conjunctions were in Leo. Did you get this self-love lesson? It is really one of the only lessons in life we really need to learn. Venus in Virgo can look for everything that is wrong or everything that is right. This is the famous cup half-empty or half-full. The choice is yours. We all know the Virgo criticisms that just keep creating more and more negativity.
Well, the same is true with self-improvement, creating more and more when that is the focus we choose. Now that is a nice Venus in Virgo value to aspire to – I am always doing the best I can in each and every moment. Every moment of every day I am better and better with XYZ. You can fill in the blanks. Virgo teaches process, asking us to try again and again until we improve. Let Venus in Virgo teach you self-love, unconditionally, no matter where you find your self, no matter what is happening in your world. When you create this kind of self-love then the world has no choice but to reflect it back to you.
Love within you creates love in your world.
October 8 - Mars makes the first of three waning sextiles to Saturn on October 8 at 4/5 degrees Cancer-Virgo. The next two waning sextiles are December 8 and March 14, 2008 in Cancer-Virgo. Here is another of the Mars retro lessons. In this case, there are old realities we need to let go of. It may be work or family situations. It may be love relationships. Mars is learning the lesson that these old emotional patterns keep us stuck in old scenarios. Old habits die hard come to mind.
This could be about letting go of outer control for inner authority. We have the ability to reflect here and figure things out. We can realize what is no longer working. These Mars’ aspects three times include oppositions to Jupiter and Pluto so we will really question what energizes us and motivates us to get out of bed in the morning.
What is important with Mars-Saturn is changing the pattern. If your mind keeps thinking of a different way you should be doing something make the effort. One classic example is changing your eating habits or getting up off the couch. Saturn in Virgo will bring health issues to the forefront over the next few years. Mars in Cancer keeps repeating an old pattern for security reasons and we need to feel some insecurity, or excitement, from making a change. Keep trying until you are successful.
October 8/9 - The Sun makes a waning sextile to Jupiter on October 8/9 at 15/16 degrees Libra-Sagittarius. Take some opportunity now to let go of old beliefs around relationships. This year has found us in the middle of Venus and Mars retrograde cycles which come every other year. So what no longer works in your world of relationships?
There could also be some new ideas coming in, perhaps around a new spiritual practice you would like to try. Ponder it. If it keeps coming around in your mind, try it. This aspect finds us wanting meaningful relationships in our lives. Mercury is almost retrograde again so go for the conversations on how you would like to bring more spirituality into your relating. The definition of soul mates is two people who are relating for the purpose of evolving each person’s spiritual growth. It is the foundation of the relationship, with or without sexuality involved, and the freedom for one to move on is always there.
This aspect is a great time to reflect upon this principle and how it is working, or not, in your life. Relationships are always changing and hopefully evolving, both together and apart. Neither is wrong. Cycles begin and they end, naturally. Where are things at for you? What relating patterns, or people, would you like to let go of in order for new ones to come in? How can you be completely honest with others about where things are at for you?
October 9 - Jupiter makes the third and final waning square to Uranus retrograde on October 9 at 15/16 degrees Sagittarius-Pisces. The first two waning squares were January 22 and May 10 in Sag-Pisces as well. Jupiter is in waning (finishing up) patterns to the three outer unconscious planets – Uranus, Neptune and Pluto – while it is in a waxing (building) pattern to Saturn, our individuated consciousness. These last quarter squares – a crisis in consciousness itself – to Uranus are the most intense aspects of 2007 for Jupiter. What are we in crisis over?
Our beliefs, from the most personal to the largest concepts we can grasp. Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius (in each other’s sign of rulership, called a mutual reception in astrology) are busting out and exposing all kinds of religious and spiritual distortions, as well as bringing opportunities for understanding natural spiritual laws and principles. Humanity can choose to destroy each other or figure out how to get along in this sandbox we call planet Earth. And it is starting to get crowded – almost 6.5 billion of us, all with our own ideas of what our purpose is, in physical form and beyond.
We can all tap in to this feeling of uncertainty – change – in the world. Are we secure? Will we have a job tomorrow? Or a lover? When will the next world trauma take place, and where? Will we be next? Will we survive? Welcome to the global village. Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius are dissolving the boundaries, geographically, socially, philosophically, etc.
Those who feel insecure with these changes cling to their Jupiter in Sagittarius personal beliefs as the only way to go forward. They go to war to prove their point. The big question is whether enough world citizens are recognizing that it is a very un-evolved way of solving the problems. How petty we will seem when the first extra-terrestrials, who care to make themselves known, force us to realize we are in the same sandbox.
Remember, as within so without, as above so below. What we struggle with here on Earth in physical form, we will also find out of body and beyond the solar system. The separating forces and returning forces exist everywhere. Theory has it that the returning forces (we are all One) have a slight majority; otherwise, we wouldn’t be here to tell the story. When the Unmanifest manifested in its own effort to evolve, the law of polarity came into being. It naturally exists within all of us, dueling back and forth as separating and returning desires/forces.
We naturally exhaust separating desires (lifetime after lifetime) until the desire to return, or know That from which we came, becomes more and more conscious, and eventually the only desire left. We call souls at this stage of evolution avatars and create religions around them rather than hearing their real message – it is the place we all aspire to evolve towards. We all will get there.
That is why it is always about finding peace in our own lives in order to find it in the world. The popular “law of attraction” works through the rhythms (space/time) of astrological archetypes according to our energizing choices. Jupiter in Sagittarius (its own sign of rulership) has been searching over the last year to evolve our personal belief systems. Because we tend to cling to old beliefs in order to be secure, Uranus in Pisces brings disillusionment and disappointment in order to dissolve those old beliefs that are at odds with natural spiritual laws and principles.
We humans have been distorting natural laws for the last 5-8,000 years now, so we all carry these distortions within us, individually and collectively. We all have various letdowns in our beliefs through the Jupiter-Uranus waning squares this year. Remember that this also opens up space for new beliefs; new ponderings striving to understand what it is all about.
Be very careful to NOT rush and fill up the void with recycling old beliefs. Ponder that void for awhile. Inwardly ask, what are your next spiritual steps and lessons to understand? In order to speak the truth you must know the truth. Always quest for your personal truths to align with universal truths and broader and broader understandings will be revealed. This is true in every area of your life: work, relationships, money, friends, etc.
At the ending of the Piscean Age, Jupiter and Uranus are giving us many opportunities to let go of human-made conditionings in order to be free. Make the effort to let go where you need to let go. Feel the relief.
October 10/11 - The New Moon of Libra is October 10/11 at 17/18 degrees. This is an annual time to set intent for new beginnings in all our relationships. Libra teaches us about the diversity of people and relationships on the planet. Through comparison and contrast we learn who we are and who we are not. Libra is really more like the dating game, with relationship choice and commitment (and the sex!) coming from Scorpio.
This is why Libra actually needs freedom, a lesson from its polarity Aries. We must experience the variety in order to know what is best for us. Through its ruler Venus, Libra learns the value of, and desire for, relationships. Libra, so aware of others, can get caught up in a need to be needed or completed through a relationship. While we always evolve through relationships (two genders in our species), we can do this through co-dependency or self-reliance. Co-dependency comes with inequalities of giving and receiving. Self-reliance creates better balance along the giving/receiving spectrum.
What new relationship patterns do you want to create as the Sun makes its annual passage through Libra? Moon in Libra briefly joins the Sun to add emotional energy. Make the best of it. New Moon and Full Moon rituals are some of the oldest, and most natural, celebration times we have. How do you choose to balance the diversity of your relationships with your own initiative? Where do you need to expend a little more giving, and where do you need to open up to a little more receiving? Know this balance ebbs and flows moment by moment which Libra is actually quite adept at.
October 11/12 - Mercury turns stationary retrograde on October 11/12 at 9 degrees Scorpio. It turns stationary direct on November 1 at 23/24 degrees Libra with the highlight of its retrograde cycle (interior conjunction to the Sun) on October 23 at 0/1 degree Scorpio. The few days around the times Mercury changes directions tend to be frustrating times. Things just do not move forward as we desire it to be. Usually there is good reason.
Planetary retrogrades allow us time to review and re-evaluate things. How many times have you wished to change an old pattern? Bless the planetary retrogrades which energize change. This time Mercury in Scorpio runs into power issues and lessons. We could either be frustrated with things we cannot control, or feelings of being controlled by forces outside of ourselves.
Scorpio is the archetype which teaches us about forces of power larger than ourselves. Whereas Libra was balancing those forces of power between us and others, now Scorpio dumps us right back into that un-equal arena again. These outside forces of power (people, situations, bodies of knowledge, whatever) make us aware of something lacking within ourselves.
We are attracted to these forces of power – separating (“bad”) and returning (“good”) – in order to evolve and become something we have yet to become. We merge with these forces of power and osmosis them into us, becoming more than we were. The trick is to avoid becoming co-dependent upon these outward sources of power. Once we osmosis them inwardly, we must then detach back into greater self-reliance (Venus and its ruler Taurus, polarity of Scorpio). We empower ourselves for better or worse. Scorpio is that famous tug between “good and evil.”
So as Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio our minds are tuned into the power struggles and manipulations. We can become aware of the games we play in order to be secure, and the games others could play with us. The retrograde lesson is stepping away from the control battle and self-empowering. We need to mentally search for greater self-reliance and then empower it in others. This is much easier said than done, and requires “willpower.” Make the effort, again and again through this retrograde.
When Mercury has you so frustrated you could scream, or strike out at another, or make statements you might regret – step back and get some major exercise. Breathe. Reach forward to Sagittarius and take a hike, even on the treadmill. What is the emotional process taking place? How can you empower your self? Breathe it through and make an effort to calm down. It may not change your plan of action or choices of words. Just know things will be received better if you come from a place of self-empowerment. How can you make this happen for you?
Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is about metamorphosis. Go for it.
October 12 - The Sun makes a waning trine to Neptune retrograde on October 12 at 19/20 degrees Libra-Aquarius. This aspect comes right after Mercury changes direction so be cautious and aware of word games. People might state the “correct” words but do your feelings match up with what is being said? If not, address it.
Sun in Libra can sometimes want peace to the extent of compromising on its own needs. Neptune in Aquarius can take the detachment road and pretend it does not care. When we try to operate solely in our heads, our emotional body can rise up and slam us with the intensity of how we really feel. This could happen with Mercury stationary retro in Scorpio. So, honor that emotional body!
Sun and Neptune are in air signs so the energy is there to talk it out. What are your relationship ideals? Where is your life falling short of that? What must change? Play around with ideas here and see if you can come up with a plan. If you keep getting messages about things needing change in your relating patterns, it is time to make the effort. Friends could become lovers and lovers could go back to friendship. Both directions are Ok as long as it works for you and honors your emotional needs.
The weakness with trines is laziness. We know what to do next yet we procrastinate and wait for a square or opposition to motivate us. Know minimal efforts with trines can create maximum results, energy efficiency in whatever way you choose to expend your energy. Detach, make and plan and act. You can adjust it through the Mercury retro cycle.
October 13/14 - Venus makes the third and final conjunction to Saturn on October 13/14 at 4/5 degrees Virgo. The earlier conjunctions were July 1 and August 13 in Leo. This is where we can set intent to be responsible for any and all of our essential needs. As rulers of the earth signs (physical practicalities) Taurus and Capricorn respectively, Venus and Saturn now in another earth sign – Virgo – have NO excuses.
The first two conjunctions in Leo could have shown us the emerging needs coming to the surface. This is what I want, Leo. Now though, in Virgo, we must make the effort to create it ourselves. This is a strong message for social maturation that has us becoming a part of the world in order to function in it and create whatever we do indeed want. Saturn is fresh in Virgo for the next two-plus years, and Jupiter and Pluto will soon follow into Capricorn. Get ready for big-time reality checks.
The earth signs force us to get real, and function within the space/time medium we find ourselves in. We can get all judgmental about it, or claim victimization, or make excuses with this last Venus-Saturn conjunction in Virgo. Or, we can accept responsibility for creating whatever realities are in our face, outer reflecting inner. We can take responsibility for consciously and unconsciously improving our world, however we each need to do so.
Another very deep Venus-Saturn message in Virgo is unconditional love for our selves, right now, wherever we find ourselves in the world. No more excuses to be nicer to our selves when we are thinner, richer, happier, etc. Self-love now! Complete responsibility for our selves gives us complete freedom. This includes the freedom to change from our foundation of self-acceptance and self-love if we desire to change in some way.
October 16 - Venus makes a waxing sextile to Mars on October 16 at 7 degrees Virgo-Cancer. The first one was September 3 in Leo-Gemini. Here is another chance to exercise new relating patterns. This time we might be more security-oriented, yet it is still about growth with a waxing sextile.
The Sun has been in Libra for almost a month now so we are full of new relating ideas we would like to try out. Go for it. We are feeling a little more self-confident hopefully, fresh from the Venus retro of re-defining what we really need in our lives and relations. Mars is getting ready to slow down and re-address deeper levels of emotional self-reliance.
Make the best of this time to experiment with all your relationships. It is through trial and error that we learn how to be better lovers. In natural law we get to keep practicing until we figure it out. This is a time for relationship optimism in the midst of Mercury’s retrograde.
October 16 - Mercury retrograde makes a waxing sextile to Venus on October 16 as well at 7/8 degrees Scorpio-Virgo. These few days bring a Mars-Venus-Mercury lineup that can help us really evolve our relationships, or claim victimization yet again. The choice is ours here, and there really is choice in how we look at things.
Mercury-Venus last had this waxing sextile on September 17 in Libra-Leo. Here is another second chance to get in touch with our evolving needs and then communicate them in some way. Perhaps you have been trying some new relating styles this fall and it is not working out. It is Ok to go back to the drawing board and renegotiate. Again, we get as many tries as we need until we figure out this give and take in relationships.
Watch the blame game. Take responsibility for your self and then you have the power to change as you desire. Listen as much as you would like to be heard. Watch out for guilt trips as well. Do not “give” anything you do not want to “receive.”
October 17 - Mercury retro makes the second of three waxing trines to Mars on October 17 at 7/8 degrees Scorpio-Cancer. The first one was September 26 and the last waxing trine is November 19, both still in Scorpio-Cancer. This is a time to really get in touch with our own emotional desires. Remember, our desires and actions are emotionally based whether we realize it or not.
What is happening these days on emotional levels? Are you angry or frustrated? How can you become more responsible for meeting your own emotional needs instead of projecting? There is plenty of energy for talking things through. If you find yourself closing down and going silent, there may be deep emotional patterns surfacing. Find the quiet space to allow that to happen. However, know you must come back out and talk it through eventually.
It can be helpful to have non-sexual touching here, especially in intimate relationships. Create the space where each person feels safe enough to let their vulnerabilities come to the surface. No judgments. Emotional crystallizations just create physical imbalances. This is an excellent time for healing the emotional body and actually freeing up a ton of creative energy. Go for it.
When we address our emotional wounds and vulnerabilities, we then become more self-reliant in the process. We are each totally responsible for our emotional well-being and yet is through the mirror of another that we learn to see our selves more clearly. Mercury and Mars can shine the light of day on things or play the smoke and mirrors game to confuse. Honor your emotional body when searching for clarity.
October 19 - Mercury retro makes the second of three waxing sextiles to Saturn on October 19 at 5/6 degrees Scorpio-Virgo. The first one was September 30 and the last waxing sextile is November 16, both in Scorpio-Virgo. There really just aren’t any excuses for not taking on self-responsibility this solar month. It may be the last thing Sun in Libra wants to look at, yet the planetary aspects keep recycling things around until we do take on the next level of taking care of our own needs.
Mercury retro may be ready to look at some deep issues and figure out a plan to move forward. As Saturn slowly moves through Virgo it will be very important, again and again over the next few years, to let go of judgments. They only keep us stuck in old patterns. Let Mercury retro in Scorpio get past the surface and really figure out what is happening. Then Saturn in Virgo can make a plan.
October 20 - Finally the Sun makes a waning sextile to Pluto on October 20 at 26/27 degrees Libra-Sagittarius. Here is the opportunity to let go of old giving and receiving patterns for emotional security reasons and understand how unhealthy these patterns are. You may know you should not loan your financially-challenged friend money again, yet, you get the subtle feeling of superiority at how much better you handle money. Can you find the power to say no and allow them to learn their own lessons?
You may know you need to clean your own house, or hire someone else to do it, yet your mother or grandma does it for free as you make excuses that they need something to do. Work out a fair exchange of energy. Gift them a monthly massage. Do not set your self up to be the maid next lifetime around.
We all have thoughts and understandings in our head about what is fair and healthy with the relationships in our lives. Put them into action. This means all relationships beyond the acquaintance level – family, work, friends and lovers. Libra is not limited to intimate relationships. Do whatever you perceive to be highest and best for all concerned, especially for your self. May you be most successful!!
May God/Goddess bless you through Sun in Libra!
